Wallace "Wally" Power Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Wallace Gerard Power, age 63, announce his sudden passing on January 16, 2026.

Wally was predeceased by his mother Hilda and her husband Bill Tuff, grandparents; Mary Ellen and Gordon Power, whom he referred to as mom and dad growing up. Special uncle Patrick Power (Marie), Allan Power, John Gerald (Irene), aunts; Catherine Barry (Joe) and Eileen Jordan (Jerome), cousins: Kenneth Power, Pam and Oakie Jordan. Special mention Gus Sears and baby Larry Power.

He is fondly remembered and loved by his sister Kathy Power (Ray) and his special nephew Kyle Power (Vanessa). Also, his sisters: Glenys Tuff (Bas) and Beverly Parsons (Geoff), brothers; Wayne Power (Josephine) and Glenn Donnelly (Valerie), loving Aunt Rose Power, nieces and nephews: Melissa, William, Erica, Tyler, Kayla, Aidan and Sage. Special mention: Darren Power (Julie), his very special lifelong dear friend Dianne Steeves, best friend and cousins Wally Joe Power and Allan Power. Many other family, cousins and friends are too numerous to mention. Wally's work family: Brian, Patricia, Keesha, Kendall Power and Gladys Bennett all held a special place in his heart.

Wally was such a genuine, kind, caring man. He had a way about him to uplift anyone he spoke to. Always a big smile when he greeted you. Everyone just loved Wally. He was a great brother, uncle, friend and neighbour and coworker. He always enjoyed a good laugh while serving his customers at Powers Store which was a big part of his life for 20 years. All the kids referred to Wally as the Candy man, always so good to the kids. He lived a very simple life but it was more fulfilling than most people in a lifetime. He could teach us all about love, kindness and listening to others because he genuinely cared what you had to say. Though his passing was sudden, the impact of his life on the people who had the pleasure to know Wally was to love him and treasure his friendship.

At Wally's request, cremation has taken place, there will be no wake, only a Mass of Christian burial. The family would like to sincerely thank the WBFD, Paramedics, RCMP, Ryans Funeral Home, Allan Power, Hannah Power and anyone who has helped the family in any way during this difficult time.

A Heartfelt Thank You to everyone who has helped ease the financial burden with the Funeral expenses through EMT’s, Sympathy Cards and the Go Fund Me Page to make sure Wally has the Best Send Off we can give him. Your kindness will never be forgotten.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Bay Bulls on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at 11:00 am with inurnment to follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Tors Cove.
